Former Nun Marries Ex-Seminarian She Met During Prayer After Leaving the Convent

In an inspiring twist of fate, a former nun, Lais Dognini, has tied the knot with Jackson Dognini, a former Catholic seminarian, years after their friendship blossomed through prayer and spiritual connection.

According to O Globo, the Brazilian couple met over six years ago while serving as missionaries. Although they often shared the same space, they never exchanged words until Jackson reached out to Lais when she was battling depression after leaving her Carmelite convent.

Lais had spent two years in the convent dedicating her life to prayer and service, while Jackson was training for priesthood at the seminary for five years. Moved by compassion, Jackson offered to pray for her recovery, which marked the beginning of their connection.

Over time, their bond grew stronger through heartfelt conversations and shared faith. Jackson, after a long period of personal reflection, chose to leave the seminary, while Lais began a new life journey focused on healing.

Their friendship eventually evolved into love, leading to a relationship in April 2024, an engagement in October 2024, and a private wedding in March 2025.

Sharing their love story for the first time on October 7, Lais wrote on Instagram: “It doesn’t seem like much, right? But let’s face it, we’re adults now and we know what we want in life.”
