Political parties contesting the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State will collectively pay ₦60 million before displaying campaign posters across the state. The Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency (EKSAA) announced that each of the 12 participating parties is required to pay ₦5 million as campaign signage and advertisement fees.
Speaking during the Ekiti Today simulcast programme, EKSAA Director-General, Adebisi Adesua, said the directive would be strictly enforced in line with state laws regulating outdoor advertising. He explained that the levy covers billboards, posters, streetlight poles, and vehicle branding throughout the campaign period across all local governments and wards.
Adesua noted that the policy is aimed at curbing illegal signage, ensuring public safety, and promoting urban orderliness. He disclosed that some parties, including the APC, have already complied. He warned that non-compliant parties risk confiscation of materials and possible prosecution.
