It is a season of deep sorrow for Senator Patrick Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader representing Benue South, as he mourns the devastating loss of his son and grandson within just two days.
According to reports, Victor Peter Moro, the senator’s son, had only recently returned from Turkey after completing his studies to begin his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Nigeria. Tragically, he lost his life in a fatal motor accident along the Mararaba axis in Nasarawa State on October 19, 2025.
The heartbreaking incident occurred barely 24 hours after the burial of his 10-year-old nephew, Aba Moro Jr., the senator’s grandson. Victor was reportedly traveling from the family residence to attend to personal matters when the accident happened.
A Family in Deep Mourning
The Moro family and the Benue South Senatorial District have been thrown into mourning following the twin tragedies. Friends, political associates, and constituents have expressed shock and sympathy over the devastating loss.
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom described the events as a “heartbreaking double tragedy”, praying for God’s comfort and strength for Senator Moro and his family.
As condolence messages pour in from across Nigeria, the painful episode stands as a somber reminder of the unpredictable fragility of life — even for those in public office.
