Dead End for PDP: Dele Momodu Quits Party, Accuses APC Agents of Hijacking Opposition

Nigerian politician and publisher, Dele Momodu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing what he described as the party’s “dead end” and hijack by agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, the member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition declared that the honourable path left for him was to leave PDP.

“ADC is a coalition of different political parties, and I resigned from the PDP because I saw that we have reached a kind of cul-de-sac,” Momodu said. “I resigned since and you could see that PDP has been completely hijacked by agents of APC who insist on staying in PDP while working for APC. It’s a kind of anomaly but it’s okay.”

Momodu stressed that he could not, in good conscience, remain in a party he believes has lost its political independence.

Apart from being a politician, Momodu highlighted his role as a journalist who monitors national affairs, insisting that PDP is incapable of rescuing itself from APC’s grip.

He further likened the PDP to a political patient in the ICU, arguing that some of its members are deliberately keeping it alive only to serve selfish purposes.

“PDP is at the dead end and some people are desperate, they don’t want to kill it but to keep it in ICU for whatever purpose. They are using it as a cadaver room. It’s a shame,” he added.

Momodu, who once contested the presidency in 2011 under the National Conscience Party (NCP), revealed that his political journey has been shaped by lessons from past experiences and remains focused on coalition-driven politics.
