Social media critic Daniel Regha has stirred a heated debate after questioning viral NYSC personality, Raye, over her recent acquisition of a Mercedes-Benz — just months after she publicly lamented financial struggles.
Raye, who previously trended for calling Lagos a “smelling state” and criticising the current economic hardship under President Tinubu’s government, took to Instagram to flaunt her new luxury ride. Sharing photos of herself with the car, she expressed gratitude to God for her progress.
However, her celebration was met with scepticism from Daniel Regha, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to question the source of her sudden wealth. He wrote:
“So Raye (the NYSC lady) who couldn’t afford the basic necessities just few months ago all of a sudden can buy a Benz; from NYSC allowance or where exactly? Hope she won’t be riding the car in the same Lagos State she has condemned? Hmmmm…”
The post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions. Some users sided with Regha, arguing that Raye’s quick turnaround appeared suspicious, while others accused him of being overly judgmental and constantly intruding into people’s personal lives.
