Adunni Ade Wins ₦20 Million Defamation Suit Against Online Platform

Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has recorded a major legal triumph as a Federal High Court awarded her ₦20 million in damages in a defamation case against Polace Media Limited, publishers of NaijaNews.com.

The case, which has been ongoing for nearly two years, originated from a controversial publication alleging that the actress was romantically involved with Senator Dino Melaye. The story listed her among six female celebrities accused of dating the politician, a claim she vehemently denied.

In her suit, Adunni Ade demanded ₦100 million in compensation, citing defamation and invasion of privacy. Delivering judgment, the court ruled in her favor, ordering the defendants to pay ₦20 million as damages.

Celebrating the verdict, the actress took to Instagram on Tuesday, writing: “Won my case Adunni Ade vs. Polace Media Limited. A false story was published about me, but truth stood tall. This judgment reaffirms that privacy matters and so does integrity.”

She also humorously disclosed that the blogger behind the platform had allegedly fled to avoid payment, quipping, “Judge granted ₦20 million in damages, but blogger don japa. Na to garnish account remain.”

Adunni Ade hinted that more lawsuits are underway, warning bloggers to verify facts before publishing. The verdict has been widely applauded within Nollywood as a landmark step toward protecting celebrities’ privacy and reputation from online defamation.
