ADC Inaugurates New LGA Executives in 21 Imo Councils, Vows to Challenge Failed Leadership

The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated its Local Government Executive Committee members in 21 out of 27 LGAs across the state.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the state chairman, Prof. James Okoroma, described the exercise as a fresh step in strengthening the party’s grassroots presence.

Okoroma noted that the party is fully prepared to engage in upcoming political contests, adding that the process was carefully structured to ensure inclusiveness.

He explained that six local government areas were exempted from the inauguration due to unresolved internal issues, stressing that the party was committed to transparency.

The chairman further highlighted that during the nomination of the executives, major political blocs that formed the coalition were duly considered to avoid any exclusion.

Citing Article 13 of the party’s constitution, Okoroma said the LGA structure consists of both Working and Executive Committees with 53 available positions. He assured those not selected to remain patient as the party still has enough leadership slots to accommodate everyone.

“Our main focus is to deliver Imo State from failed leadership. Today, we have equipped you for the journey ahead,” Okoroma declared.

He also urged members to resolve grievances internally, reminding them that the Supreme Court has upheld the supremacy of party constitutions, which cannot be violated by individuals or groups.

The inauguration was witnessed by members of the State Executive Working Committee and other stakeholders of the party.
