Atiku, El-Rufai, Tambuwal, Others Meet in Abuja as ADC Coalition Gains Momentum

A major political gathering took place in Abuja on Thursday as former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar joined leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition for a high-profile stakeholders’ meeting.

The event drew a lineup of influential figures, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai, former Minister of Digital Economy Isa Pantami, ADC National Chairman and ex-Senate President David Mark, former Kwara Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed, and former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

Atiku, who shared updates from the meeting on his official X handle, described the gathering as a strategic effort to challenge entrenched interests stalling Nigeria’s progress.

“I am currently at the stakeholders’ meeting of the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja. It’s a meeting of the Nigerian people against the oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land,” Atiku stated.

Political analysts believe the Abuja meeting signals possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures seek to consolidate against what they describe as “oligarchic forces” that perpetuate poverty and insecurity.

The involvement of heavyweights like El-Rufai and Tambuwal has further raised speculation of a stronger coalition movement that could redefine Nigeria’s political landscape in the coming years.
