Boko Haram War Will End Only When Nigeria Gets a True Commander-in-Chief – Aisha Yesufu

Prominent activist, Aisha Yesufu, has declared that the war against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in northern Nigeria will only come to an end when the country has a true Commander-in-Chief.

Yesufu made the statement in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where she strongly criticized the current state of Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.

Quoting her words, she wrote:

“The day Nigeria gets a Commander-in-Chief, the war against Boko Haram and the other terrorists will be properly tackled! Until then, the terrorists will continue to mock us, it is well.”

Her remarks followed the circulation of a viral video showing the Nigerian Army surveillance system capturing Boko Haram movements.

According to reports, the surveillance footage revealed Boko Haram insurgents invading a military base in Borno State. However, soldiers on ground were allegedly not alerted in time to counter the attack, raising serious concerns about lapses in military coordination and intelligence handling.

Yesufu, a vocal critic of successive governments, argued that such failures underscore the absence of strong leadership at the highest level of Nigeria’s security structure. She maintained that only decisive command from the presidency could change the narrative in the fight against insurgency.

The activist’s comments have since sparked fresh debate among Nigerians on social media, with many questioning why terrorists appear to operate freely despite heavy security spending and ongoing military operations in the northeast.
