The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially inaugurated a campaign council consisting of 1,800 members in preparation for the upcoming governorship election in Anambra, scheduled for November 8.
During the inauguration held in Awka on Tuesday, Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the party, expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to unseat the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Represented by Ijeoma Arodiogbu, the Southeast Vice-Chairman, Yilwatda emphasized the importance of Anambra to the APC’s national leadership. He stated, “We have selected all of you because we believe that you can do the job. We are going for nothing but victory, and for us to achieve it you have to double your efforts. I assure you that the south-east APC, Hope Uzodimma, our national leadership and President Bola Tinubu are all behind you.”
He added that additional campaign structures, including senatorial, local government, ward, and polling unit teams, will also be inaugurated. Yilwatda urged the council and party members to work diligently to ensure the APC’s success.
APC’s governorship candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, called for support from party members and the residents of Anambra, promising to create a secure environment to boost the state’s business climate if elected. He also pledged to establish a gas power plant to utilize the state’s abundant gas resources for industrial development and to enhance the agricultural value chain with insurance policies to promote mechanized farming.
Dozie Ikedife, the Director-General of the campaign council, assured members of their commitment to electing Ukachukwu as governor and Uche Ekwunife as deputy governor.
