Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in safeguarding lives and property across the state, following his government’s latest intervention in boosting security logistics.
Speaking during the official presentation of 47 four-wheel drive patrol vehicles and 50 motorcycles to security agencies and the 17 local government councils, Buni emphasized that the move was aimed at strengthening mobility, response time, and operational effectiveness in the fight against insecurity.
According to the breakdown, 21 vehicles were allocated to Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) across the 17 LGAs, while one vehicle each went to the State Police Headquarters (Operations), Nigerian Army, DSS, Nigerian Correctional Service, Immigration Service, Civil Defence Corps, NDLEA, NAPTIP, and NAFDAC.
Similarly, each of the 17 local government chairmen received a vehicle for daily operations, while the 50 motorcycles were distributed among the DSS (23), Nigerian Army (10), Airport Security Team (10), and Vigilante groups (7).
Governor Buni urged the agencies to reciprocate government’s gesture by stepping up their fight against criminal activities and ensuring that citizens move about without fear.
“To achieve this noble objective, it has become necessary to provide adequate support to security agencies, especially in terms of logistics, to ease their movements on routine patrols and quick response to distress calls,” Buni noted.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support in ensuring peace and stability in Yobe, while appreciating the gallantry of security operatives, vigilante members, and hunters who risk their lives to secure the state.
