As Peace Returns to Rivers, Fubara Hails Tinubu, Wike for Ending Political Crisis

After months of tension and political uncertainty, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for their roles in restoring peace and stability in the state.

Addressing a jubilant crowd of supporters at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday, shortly after resuming office following his suspension under emergency rule, Fubara said Rivers has entered a new era of reconciliation and progress.

“I won’t take President Tinubu’s kindness for granted,” the governor said, noting the crucial role played by the president and the FCT minister in brokering peace.

Fubara specifically praised Tinubu for his timely intervention and unwavering commitment to stability in Rivers State, while also appreciating Wike for his efforts in resolving the crisis.

“There remain ample opportunities for necessary adjustments, reconciliation, and inclusiveness. The costliest peace is still cheaper than the cheapest war,” Fubara emphasized.

The governor urged all political actors to embrace unity and work together in the interest of Rivers people, stressing that the state must move beyond political divisions.

Reflecting on his administration’s progress despite the turbulence, Fubara highlighted achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security, promising to revive the economy and ensure the wellbeing of all citizens.

He called the moment a fresh beginning, assuring Rivers people that his government will return to the path of governance and development with renewed hope.
