The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has confidently declared that Nigerians will once again vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program on Wednesday, Yilwatda revealed that APC governors, National Assembly members, and other stakeholders had already endorsed Tinubu as the party’s flagbearer.
“At the summit of the party, the governors, National Assembly members and the entire members of the party that attended that summit endorsed President Tinubu as their preferred candidate for 2027,” Yilwatda stated.
He emphasized that the APC leadership listens to its members, noting that Tinubu’s re-election bid has the overwhelming support of the party.
“We are the party that listens to the voice of our members. If the members of the party endorsed him, the party will of course go along with him. Nigerians voted Tinubu as president in 2023, they will do the same in 2027,” he added.
Adebayo Counters with Harsh Economic Reality
Meanwhile, former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has warned that Tinubu faces major challenges with Nigeria’s struggling economy.
Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday, Adebayo likened the economy left behind by former President Muhammadu Buhari to “an emergency room patient.”
According to him, while Tinubu has managed to stabilize the situation, the deeper structural issues remain unresolved.
“The economy that President Buhari left was poorly managed, and was an emergency room patient. What President Tinubu has done is to stabilize the patient, but I’m not sure he has managed to know the ailment. So the patient is not going to die imminently, but he hasn’t found a cure,” Adebayo explained.
The contrasting positions highlight the political optimism of APC leadership versus the economic concerns raised by opposition voices, as Nigeria edges closer to another crucial election cycle.
