Dele Momodu Exposes How Atiku, Obi, and El-Rufai Outmaneuvered Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has claimed that opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Anambra governor Peter Obi, have successfully outmaneuvered President Bola Tinubu’s administration with strategic political moves ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise programme on Friday, Momodu asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is unsettled by the strength of the opposition coalition and is attempting to weaken rival parties through internal strife.

He noted that the APC’s initiative to present Tinubu as a consensus candidate for 2027 stems from their fear of a strong opposition.

Momodu accused government agents of intentionally creating factions within parties such as the Labour Party, PDP, and NNPP to destabilize them. He revealed that the ADC conveners anticipated these tactics and took proactive measures to protect the party’s structure from external interference.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the opposition misled the ruling party into believing they were aligning with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or another emerging platform before revealing the ADC as their unifying point.

Momodu praised the ADC leaders for being “several steps ahead” of attempts to undermine the coalition. He stated, “It’s obvious that the ruling party is jittery. They do not want any strong competition in 2027. They desire a sole candidate.”

He added, “We all know what is going on. There’s nothing wrong with anyone going to court if aggrieved. But the conveners of ADC worked extremely hard behind the scenes to arrive at this point.”

Momodu expressed disappointment over the current state of democracy, stating, “It’s a shame that a day will come when a civilian government would not want democracy to prosper. Many people died for this democracy.”

He also commented on the PDP’s struggles, saying, “PDP has not been able to move forward. They are in a state of inertia, going backwards.”

Momodu concluded by appealing to the judiciary to resist coercion and uphold their legacy, emphasizing the importance of a fair judicial process for the future of Nigeria.
