Abdulmumin Jibrin Speaks Out After Shock Expulsion From NNPP — “No Fair Hearing, But I Accept My Fate”

A dramatic twist has hit Nigeria’s political scene as House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin has accepted his expulsion from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) but slammed the party for denying him fair hearing.

Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji constituency, was expelled over alleged anti-party activities and non-payment of dues. But in a statement released hours later, the lawmaker dismissed the accusations, stressing that he had never defaulted in his obligations.

“While I would have loved to stay in the NNPP and continue my service to our people and country despite differences on some issues… the party has made and announced a decision. I am therefore obliged to accept the decision of the party in good faith and without grudges,” Jibrin wrote.

He accused the NNPP of failing to follow due process and claimed the move was linked to his recent interviews. However, he insisted he would not challenge the decision in court, citing his respect for the party and its members.

“But for the respect I have for the party… I would have viewed this action as null and void… I will rather wish the party well and go in peace. I beg the party to allow me also go in peace,” he said.

The lawmaker also dismissed claims of non-payment of dues: “I respectfully request that the party send me the invoice, and I will promptly pay.”

Despite the fallout, Jibrin maintained his ties with NNPP members and vowed to keep relationships “peaceful and harmonious” while he weighs his next political home.

“I welcome all my supporters who wish to join me in my new journey. But for those who chose to remain in NNPP, I hold no grudges,” the Kano politician added.
