Tambuwal Reveals Secret Strategy Opposition Plans to Defeat Tinubu in 2027

Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has said that opposition unity will be the deciding factor in unseating President Bola Tinubu if he seeks re-election in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal argued that a fragmented opposition would play into Tinubu’s hands, while a united coalition could remove him through the ballot box.

“It will be easier for the opposition to come together and defeat Tinubu, but it is not certain that if Bola Tinubu runs, Goodluck Jonathan runs, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso run on the same ballot that Tinubu will win,” Tambuwal stated.

In June, a strategic meeting in Abuja brought together key opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai. They resolved to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the coalition platform ahead of the 2027 polls.

The coalition, already attracting support from across Nigeria, is being positioned as a credible alternative to APC dominance. However, the ruling party has dismissed the alliance, with President Tinubu labeling it a “coalition of confusion.”

Some critics, including the African Action Congress (AAC), have also branded it an elitist project lacking grassroots legitimacy.

Tambuwal, however, maintained that the political climate would evolve once official declarations are made.

“When this happens, the dynamics will be different, and things will change. A lot of factors will influence the way people vote,” he added.

Pressed to reveal who he would personally back among possible contenders such as Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi, Tambuwal refused to commit, insisting he would disclose his stance when candidacies are officially declared.
