The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the upcoming Osun State governorship election, urging him to avoid any attempt to influence the outcome.

In a statement released through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric cautioned the Presidency against imposing any candidate on the people of Osun State, insisting that the election should be allowed to reflect what he described as “God’s will” and the choice of the electorate.

Primate Ayodele warned that any effort to interfere with the electoral process could have far-reaching consequences, not only for Osun State but also for Nigeria’s political future. According to him, the governorship election carries significant implications for the 2027 presidential election, making it important for all parties to respect the democratic process.

He stressed that President Tinubu should resist any pressure or advice that could encourage interference in the election, arguing that attempts to alter the will of the people could trigger political instability.

The cleric also called on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the military, to deploy adequate personnel across the state before and during the election. He claimed there were indications that some individuals or groups might attempt to disrupt the exercise, warning that poor security arrangements could lead to violence and bloodshed.

Primate Ayodele further advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to remain vigilant, stating that the election could be fiercely contested with allegations of money politics, manipulation, and possible violence. He urged the governor to prepare adequately while maintaining confidence in the democratic process.

Addressing the eventual candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the religious leader appealed for peaceful conduct throughout the election. He emphasized that no political office is worth the loss of human life and urged all contestants and their supporters to accept the outcome in good faith.

His remarks have added another layer of attention to the build-up to the Osun governorship election, as political stakeholders continue preparations for what is expected to be one of the state’s most closely watched contests.
