Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has named a 27-man squad for the club’s highly anticipated pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, with several new signings and promising academy stars making the travelling party.
The Blues are set to depart London for Sydney as preparations intensify for the new campaign under Alonso, who will be looking to fine-tune his squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Chelsea will kick off the tour against Western Sydney Wanderers at the Accor Stadium on Tuesday, July 28, before facing Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the same venue on Saturday, August 1.
The London club will then head to Hong Kong, where they will take on Juventus on Wednesday, August 5, before travelling to Jakarta, Indonesia, to face AC Milan at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium on Saturday, August 8.
Chelsea’s pre-season campaign will conclude in Malaysia, where they are scheduled to play Johor Darul Ta’zim at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Sunday, August 9.
The squad features established stars such as Cole Palmer, João Pedro, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia and Liam Delap, alongside exciting young talents who will be hoping to impress Alonso during the tour.
Supporters will also be eager to see new arrivals and academy graduates in action as Chelsea begin preparations for what promises to be an exciting new era under their Spanish manager.
