Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has made a bold declaration, saying he is prepared to resign from office if anyone proves that his claims about road projects executed under his administration are false.
Wike made the statement while defending the performance of the FCT Administration, insisting that every project his administration has announced is visible, verifiable and open to public inspection.
The former Rivers State governor challenged critics to visit the various road projects across the Federal Capital Territory and confirm whether the government had delivered on its promises.
According to him, he has no reason to mislead Nigerians or take credit for projects that do not exist, stressing that transparency and accountability remain central to his style of governance.
“I will resign as Minister if my claims on roads are false,” Wike declared, expressing confidence that the completed and ongoing projects speak for themselves.
The minister maintained that the current administration has significantly transformed road infrastructure in Abuja through the construction and rehabilitation of several major roads, bridges and access routes designed to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities.
He argued that critics should rely on facts rather than political narratives, insisting that the achievements of the FCT Administration can be independently verified by residents and stakeholders.
Wike also dismissed allegations that his administration was exaggerating its accomplishments, saying the infrastructure projects were visible evidence of government performance rather than mere political promises.
His comments come amid growing political debates over the performance of the Tinubu administration, with infrastructure development remaining one of the key issues dominating national discourse ahead of the 2027 general election.
Political observers say the minister’s strong remarks are likely to intensify discussions over governance, accountability and project execution, especially as opposition parties continue to scrutinize the Federal Government’s performance.
For now, Wike remains firm that the roads delivered under his watch are proof of his commitment to transforming the nation’s capital and insists he is willing to stake his position on those achievements.
