With the 2027 general elections drawing closer, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has issued a passionate call to its members, urging them to mobilize aggressively to ensure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secures a second term in office.

Speaking during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting involving party executives from the nine local government areas and 105 wards in Owerri Zone, Imo APC Chairman Austin Onyedebelu declared that the party must “fight like a wounded lion” to deliver overwhelming victories for Tinubu and all APC candidates.

The meeting brought together ward executives, local government party leaders, elected council chairmen, councillors and other key stakeholders, as party leaders intensified preparations for what promises to be a fiercely contested election cycle.

Onyedebelu stressed that unity remains the APC’s greatest strength, warning party officials that they would be held directly responsible for the party’s performance in their respective constituencies. He challenged members to identify potential obstacles before the elections rather than offering excuses afterward, insisting that every issue capable of affecting victory must be addressed immediately.

The APC chairman also cautioned members against anti-party activities, reminding them that supporting rival political parties would ultimately leave them without political rewards. According to him, loyalty, discipline and grassroots mobilization—not shortcuts—will determine electoral success in 2027.

Beyond the presidential contest, Onyedebelu described the upcoming elections as a defining moment for Owerri Zone’s ambition to produce the next governor of Imo State. He urged party faithful to remain united and committed to achieving both national and state political objectives.

State Secretary Onyekachi Ibezim explained that the engagement was designed to strengthen communication between the State Working Committee and grassroots executives, describing ward and local government officials as the engine room of the party.

Responding on behalf of Owerri Zone, State Vice Chairman Justus Ogu assured the leadership that the zone would deliver massive votes for the APC from the presidency down to the State House of Assembly.

As political campaigns gradually gather momentum nationwide, the APC’s latest declaration signals that preparations for the battle for 2027 are already in full swing.
