As political calculations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election gather momentum, African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dele Momodu has made a bold prediction that is already stirring debate across the country. According to the veteran publisher and politician, the next election could become a defining battle in which former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has a realistic path to victory over both President Bola Tinubu and other major contenders.

Speaking during an interview on Nevon Media, Momodu argued that Atiku’s electoral prospects depend heavily on consolidating support across Northern Nigeria while remaining competitive in the South. In his assessment, such a strategy could significantly alter the political landscape and make the contest extremely challenging for the incumbent president.

Momodu expressed confidence that Atiku could secure substantial votes in northern states and also meet the constitutional spread required to win a presidential election. He pointed to the importance of obtaining at least 25 percent of votes in a broad range of states while leading in overall national votes, describing the North as a region with considerable electoral influence.

The ADC stalwart further suggested that political alignments in the North may strengthen Atiku’s chances, adding that strategic decisions by regional actors could shape the outcome of the race. He also predicted that Atiku would remain competitive in parts of Southern Nigeria, including Osun State, despite public endorsements of President Tinubu by some political figures.

Momodu’s remarks reflect his political opinion and campaign outlook rather than established electoral outcomes. Nigeria’s presidential election remains years away, and the eventual result will depend on voter participation, party dynamics, alliances, and the official electoral process.

With parties beginning to position themselves for 2027, analysts expect political rhetoric and strategic declarations to become increasingly prominent. The comments also underscore the significance of coalition-building and regional support in Nigeria’s highly competitive electoral environment.

As the countdown to another major election continues, statements from influential political voices like Momodu are likely to fuel public discussion and intensify speculation about how the race for the presidency may unfold.
