Grammy-winning rap star Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar Cephus, famously known as Cardi B, has been cleared of all assault allegations in a massive $24 million civil lawsuit after a Los Angeles jury delivered a unanimous verdict on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The lawsuit, filed by former security guard Emani Ellis, stemmed from a 2018 incident outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office.
Ellis alleged that Cardi B, who was pregnant at the time, scratched her face, spat on her, and used racial slurs during a heated altercation.
Taking the stand last week, Cardi B fiercely denied the accusations, insisting the confrontation was verbal only and rooted in her anger at being secretly recorded during a private medical visit.
Her defense was backed by multiple witnesses, including a clinic receptionist and a doctor, both of whom testified they saw no physical assault take place.
After less than an hour of deliberations, the jury ruled decisively in Cardi B’s favor, dismissing all claims. Outside the courthouse, the rapper expressed her relief and slammed the false accusations.
“Even if I’m on my deathbed, I will say it never happened. I will never admit to something I did not do,” Cardi B declared to reporters.
