2027: Obidient Movement Vows to Stop Electoral Sabotage

The Obidient Movement has warned that the alleged irregularities witnessed during Nigeria’s 2023 general elections will not be tolerated in 2027. The group accused the Senate of taking steps that could undermine free, fair and credible elections.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, the movement described it as ironic that the ruling APC adopts electronic registration and digital systems for its internal processes while resisting similar transparency in national elections.

The group alleged that recent legislative actions point to a deliberate attempt to weaken electoral reforms and serve the interests of a political elite. It warned that Nigeria’s democratic future is at risk if such moves are not challenged.

The Obidient Movement called on Nigerians, civil society groups and the international community to stand against what it described as a backward slide in democracy. It urged citizens to remain vigilant, lawful and determined to protect their votes and reclaim the country through democratic means.
