Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has shared a powerful story of how a ₦500 village scholarship transformed his life, as he launched a new education support scheme for Ondo State students.
Speaking in Akure during Ondo State’s 50th anniversary lecture, Oyedele recalled how financial help from his village association in Ikaram-Akoko enabled him to register for his final secondary school exams over 35 years ago.
He described the experience as proof that community support and education can unlock greatness, stressing that no child should lose a future due to lack of exam fees.
To give back, Oyedele announced a ₦500,000 scholarship to cover final examination costs for the best graduating student in every public secondary school across Ondo State during the Golden Jubilee year.
He urged successful indigenes, corporate bodies and community groups to invest more in education, adding that long-term development depends on policy consistency, strong institutions and youth empowerment.
