APC member Taofiq Raimi has dismissed Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s reported demands as “unrealistic, overrated, and over-ambitious,” insisting the party cannot accommodate conditions like control of 20% of the APC’s national structure, the vice-presidential slot, or a guaranteed 2031 presidential ticket.
Raimi said such demands conflict with APC’s diversity, size, and internal power balance. He argued that no individual should override the collective interests of 36 states and 774 local governments. He described the requests as reflecting excessive personal ambition rather than willingness to work within a coalition.
On the vice-presidential slot, Raimi emphasized it is premature, noting President Tinubu’s current VP complements the administration effectively. He also rejected claims that Kwankwaso’s influence in Kano or the North-West justifies special concessions.
Despite criticism, Raimi affirmed APC’s openness to dialogue, highlighting the president’s strategic leadership and inclusive approach. He stressed that political negotiations should promote national cohesion and development, not personal ambition.
