A heated exchange has erupted between President Bola Tinubu’s aide, Daniel Bwala, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over what Bwala described as “ideological confusion” within the party. The argument played out publicly on social media following recent media appearances by ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi.
Bwala criticised Abdullahi for failing to clearly define ADC’s ideology during interviews, alleging inconsistency and evasiveness when questioned on national television. He argued that a party spokesperson who cannot articulate ideology reflects either poor leadership or lack of vision, linking the controversy to Abdullahi’s recently published book, The Loyalist.
Abdullahi fired back, insisting that ADC’s ideology is centred on the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians. He accused the ruling party of promoting policies that worsen poverty and insecurity, dismissing Bwala’s criticism as uninformed.
Bwala responded by challenging Abdullahi on why he failed to state the party’s ideology clearly during interviews, insisting that what was presented online amounted to “wishful thinking” rather than a defined ideology.
The exchange has sparked fresh debate about ideological clarity among Nigeria’s political parties.
