The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State has dismissed claims by former Senator Abubakar Gada that he was a member of the party, describing the assertion as false and misleading. The state chairman, Alhaji Bello Isiyaku-Keegan, made the clarification on Monday while briefing journalists in Sokoto.
Isiyaku-Keegan explained that political party membership follows a formal registration process, adding that Gada’s name does not appear in any ADC register at the ward, local government, or state levels. He stressed that the former lawmaker, who represented Sokoto East Senatorial District between 2007 and 2011, never registered with the ADC.
The party also clarified that neither Gada nor former Governor Aminu Tambuwal has ever been a member of the ADC. According to the chairman, it was regrettable that a politician of Gada’s status would circulate such claims in the public space.
The ADC described the episode as careless political communication and reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, internal democracy, and credible opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
