The All Progressives Congress (APC) says Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s defection has strengthened and unified the party in Rivers State, boosting membership and providing clear leadership direction. Party officials made the announcement after conducting ward congresses in Ahoada East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II ahead of the February 21 House of Assembly bye-elections.
Shehu Dange, chairman of the Ahoada East Congress Committee, said Fubara’s leadership has energized party members and renewed public confidence. Secretary Smart Iheanazor highlighted the enthusiasm of participants, who also voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
In Khana State Constituency II, Chairman Ayoala Peter said the high turnout and active engagement of delegates demonstrate that the APC is well-positioned for victory in the bye-elections and 2027 general elections. The exercises, supervised by party officials and monitored by INEC and security agencies, elected five delegates per ward who will vote in the primaries to select candidates for the upcoming polls.
Fubara’s entry is seen as a catalyst for party cohesion and electoral readiness in Rivers State.
