The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned its supporters against promoting divisive loyalty to individual aspirants, stressing that such attitudes could weaken the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the ADC Coalition Hours held virtually on Saturday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bola Abdullahi, urged members to support all declared presidential hopefuls rather than insisting on a single candidate. He said slogans suggesting “this candidate or nothing” only benefit the ruling APC and distract from the broader goal of winning the election.
Abdullahi noted that the ADC, now a coalition platform for opposition leaders, is focused on building unity under its leadership while strengthening nationwide structures. He confirmed consultations with key figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi, adding that all aspirants are committed to a collective victory.
The party, he said, will intensify internal cohesion efforts to ensure a united front in 2027.
