Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called on the Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party to repent, embrace peace and respect the judgement of the Federal High Court recognising the Nenadi Usman-led leadership of the party.
Reacting to the ruling, Otti said the verdict aligned with the earlier Supreme Court judgement and described it as a victory for democracy and the rule of law. He assured that members of the Abure faction would be forgiven and reintegrated if they turned a new leaf and became law-abiding.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor urged those behind multiple litigations against the party to sheathe their swords and respect the court’s decision.
Otti also challenged the recognised national leadership of the Labour Party to use the judgement as a turning point to rebuild the party, stressing the need for peace, unity and justice in line with the party’s constitution and founding ideals.
