The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken a deeper turn following the resignation of Sunny Ndukwu, a media aide to the party’s sacked National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.
In a resignation letter dated January 4, 2026, Ndukwu cited lack of cohesion, clear direction and irreconcilable differences as reasons for dumping the party. He said the current state of the PDP no longer reflects the ideals on which it was founded.
Addressing the PDP Ward Chairman in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, Ndukwu expressed gratitude for opportunities to serve but stressed the need to align with a political platform that matches his personal convictions.
Until his exit, Ndukwu served as Special Adviser on Communications to Senator Anyanwu and previously held key media roles during the Imo PDP 2023 governorship campaign. His departure adds to growing concerns over unity and stability within the opposition party.
