Labour Party Crisis Threatens Chances Ahead Of 2027 Polls

Senior Special Adviser on Media Matters to the Labour Party National Chairman, Ken Asogwa, has warned that the party cannot win the 2027 general elections without internal unity and cohesion.

Asogwa disclosed that Senator Nenadi Usman has moved swiftly to address the crisis by setting up a reconciliation committee to unite all aggrieved factions. He spoke on Wednesday during an interview on ARISE Television’s Prime Time, while reacting to a court judgment directing INEC to recognise the Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee as the party’s lawful leadership.

According to him, the Labour Party leadership understands that division remains its biggest threat ahead of the next elections. He said Usman immediately called for calm after the ruling, urging all sides to embrace peace and dialogue.

Asogwa stressed that the judgment was not a victory for any group, but an opportunity to rebuild trust and restore unity within the party, noting that celebration would only deepen existing cracks.
