The Peoples Democratic Party has mocked governors who defected to the All Progressives Congress, saying their “regret has only just begun” following APC’s refusal to guarantee them automatic tickets.
Reacting to the development, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the defections were driven by selfish interests rather than the welfare of Nigerians. He named governors Umo Eno, Sheriff Oborevwori, Peter Mbah, Agbu Kefas and Siminalayi Fubara among those who left the party for the ruling APC.
Ememobong stated that the PDP was not surprised by the APC’s stance, describing the ruling party as one that does not genuinely value its members. He warned that the defectors would soon realise their limited influence within the APC and face disappointment over unfulfilled expectations.
The NNPP also echoed similar views, insisting that defectors are often lured with promises that rarely materialise, leaving them politically vulnerable in their new party.
