Senator Ali Ndume has warned residents of Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State against collaborating with terrorists, calling on communities to expose informants and anyone aiding criminal activities.
The Borno South lawmaker issued the warning during a visit to the palace of the Emir of Gwoza, where he met with traditional leaders, youths and key stakeholders. Ndume said residents must take collective responsibility for security, stressing that betrayal from within communities would not be tolerated.
According to him, the visit was also aimed at mobilising residents for the ongoing APC digital registration and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) enrolment, alongside discussions on security challenges.
Ndume raised concerns over rising drug abuse among youths and disclosed that he had engaged the NDLEA to tackle the problem. He also encouraged youths to take advantage of educational institutions in Gwoza, assuring support for underprivileged students.
The Emir of Gwoza echoed concerns over drug abuse, urging collective action to protect the future of the community.
