Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that Peter Obi remains the only political force keeping the African Democratic Congress (ADC) relevant ahead of the 2027 general election.
Fayose made the statement during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television, where he also described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as technically dead. According to him, Obi’s political value transcends party platforms, insisting that whichever party the former Labour Party presidential candidate joins automatically gains relevance.
He argued that other figures within the ADC lack electoral strength, describing them as “old forces” with limited political influence. Fayose added that Obi would still stand out even if he had remained in the Labour Party or moved to another platform.
The former governor also cautioned against linking Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to the internal crisis rocking the PDP, stressing that Makinde should not be blamed for the party’s challenges.
