Political tension in Rivers State has intensified following a public show of support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara by members of the National Association of Seadogs. The group staged a street demonstration in parts of the state, openly asserting Fubara’s authority as the sitting governor and urging former governor and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to stay out of state affairs.
The development comes amid renewed friction linked to the Rivers political crisis between both leaders. Separately, the APC Director of Information, Bala Ibrahim, stated that should Wike join the party, he would operate under Governor Fubara’s leadership, stressing that political authority rests with current office holders. Observers say the unfolding Rivers political crisis is reshaping power alignments ahead of future contests.
