2027 Presidency: Obi Must Complete South’s Turn – Tanko

The Obidient Movement has declared that the presidency in 2027 should remain in Southern Nigeria, insisting that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is best positioned to complete what it described as the South’s remaining term.

The position was stated by the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election. Tanko stressed that the movement rejects calls for Obi to step aside, describing such suggestions as contrary to democratic fairness and equity.

His comments came the same day Obi’s former running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, declared his intention to contest the presidency in 2027. Baba-Ahmed said his ambition was long-standing and not influenced by Obi’s recent move from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress.

Tanko maintained that zoning remains central to the movement’s stance, adding that Obi’s candidacy reflects the principle of rotational leadership and national balance.
