Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has addressed the reported clash between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 Round of 16 win.
Nigeria cruised to the quarter-finals after Osimhen scored twice, while Lookman and Akor Adams also found the net. However, tension surfaced in the 64th minute when Osimhen confronted Lookman inside the box over a missed pass he believed would have led to another goal.
Moments later, the Napoli striker asked to be substituted and was replaced by Moses Simon. The incident sparked reactions among fans, raising concerns about dressing-room harmony.
Speaking after the match, Chelle downplayed the situation, insisting the matter would be handled internally. He stressed that what happens on the pitch stays within the team and will be resolved privately to protect unity as Nigeria pushes for the title.
