The Obidient Movement has firmly declared that its support within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is exclusively for Peter Obi to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate. The movement stressed that it will not back Obi as a vice-presidential candidate under any arrangement.
The clarification followed reports attributed to its National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, suggesting the group would remain in the ADC even if Obi loses the party’s ticket. Tanko dismissed the claims as deliberate misrepresentation and malicious propaganda.
In a statement, the movement said its ideals and collective resolve are committed solely to Obi’s presidential ambition. It added that while it can align with any political party that reflects Obi’s leadership vision, its current engagement with the ADC is based on a transparent and credible presidential selection process.
The movement warned that if the process is compromised, it would take a united, lawful, and democratic decision consistent with its principles.
