Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over the fatal road accident involving former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, in Ogun State.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred in Makun on Monday, claiming the lives of two members of Joshua’s team, while the boxer narrowly survived.
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Obi lamented the tragic loss and raised serious concerns about Nigeria’s emergency response system, citing reports that no ambulance was immediately available to transport Joshua to the hospital.
The former Anambra State governor described the situation as troubling, especially as it happened while the global sports icon was in Nigeria. He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for Joshua’s quick recovery.
The incident has once again sparked national conversation on the state of emergency healthcare services across the country.
