NNPP Warns Abba Yusuf: Dumping Party Is Betrayal of Kano Mandate

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has appealed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to remain in the party, warning that defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) would amount to a betrayal of the mandate given to him by voters.

Speaking in Kano, NNPP state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, said the party would not support any move by the governor to leave the platform on which he was elected. He stressed that the NNPP is actively resolving internal disagreements and called on members to remain loyal.

Dungurawa dismissed claims linking the party’s national leader, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to any defection plan, describing such reports as misleading. He also cautioned against attempts to create a rift between the governor and Kwankwaso.

The appeal followed reports of a closed-door meeting between Governor Yusuf and APC leaders, which fueled defection speculations.
