FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has cautioned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) risks losing the 2027 presidential election due to poor leadership. Speaking in his end-of-year media briefing, Wike criticized the party’s lack of focus, commitment, and strategic planning.
He urged the party to begin rebuilding for 2031, stressing that strong, committed leadership is key to regaining power. Wike reiterated that leadership failures have consequences and called for immediate corrective measures to position PDP effectively for the future.
He said: “We have a leadership that is not focused, a leadership that does not know what to do, a leadership that does not consider suggestions. “If the leadership is committed, I will come back to say look we have made a mistake why is it that things are happening this way now? What can we do to correct it? “It’s not just about taking over government; we must position ourselves effectively. If the leadership is strong, they need to consider “By 2027, it’s likely that we may not make it but are we going to allow the party to die? Can’t we start rebuilding now ahead of 2031?”
