Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, is reportedly set to officially defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party insiders revealed that consultations between Obi and the ADC leadership are at an advanced stage, with his supporters already mobilising nationwide.
Sources disclosed that Obi recently met with ADC National Chairman, David Mark, following pressure from the party for him to clarify his political direction. Plans are underway for a formal declaration rally scheduled for December 31 in Enugu, widely regarded as the political capital of the South-East.
Although ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said no official confirmation has been made, he acknowledged that high-level consultations are ongoing. Political analysts say Obi’s move could significantly reshape opposition politics ahead of 2027.
