Former senator Shehu Sani has commented on the recent US military strikes in North-West Nigeria, warning that foreign powers cannot permanently solve the country’s security challenges.
Speaking on X, Sani described terrorist groups in northern Nigeria as “cancerous cells” that thrive on violence and must be confronted decisively. He stressed that while the strikes, reportedly coordinated with Nigerian authorities, are justifiable, ultimate security depends on Nigeria itself.
Sani also rejected claims that terrorism only targets a single religious group, calling such narratives misleading. He emphasized that foreign strikes can assist, but long-term peace and security require strong domestic action.
