Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his move at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House, Port Harcourt. Fubara explained that his former party failed to protect him during his political crisis, prompting his decision to align with the ruling party.
He credited President Bola Tinubu for safeguarding his mandate, stating that without the President’s intervention, he would no longer be governor. According to him, joining the APC is a public show of gratitude and a commitment to openly support the President rather than offering what he described as “backyard support.”
Fubara added that his supporters and political allies would also be moving with him, noting that the decision followed months of tension and uncertainty in the state’s political landscape.
