Southeast Crisis: Orji Kalu Insists 30,000 Igbos Have Died From Sit-at-Home Violence

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has insisted that more than 30,000 Igbo people have been killed in the South-East due to sit-at-home orders, violent disruptions, and unrest linked to IPOB and its security wing, ESN. Speaking on ARISE News, Kalu dismissed IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful’s claim that he fabricated the figures and was sponsoring violence in the region. He described Powerful’s statements as “childish,” insisting his comments were based on real human and economic losses suffered in areas such as Ihiala, Orlu and other parts of the South-East.

Kalu challenged Emma Powerful to reveal his identity and speak openly if he wished to counter the statistics. While expressing sympathy for Nnamdi Kanu’s family, he urged both the Federal Government and stakeholders to work toward resolving the crisis. He emphasized that victims of killings, business losses, and families destroyed must not be ignored.
