Bode George Renews Demand for State Police as Insecurity Escalates Nationwide

PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George, has once again urged the Federal Government to establish state police as insecurity continues to worsen across Nigeria. Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, George said the rising cases of kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks have shown that the current centralised policing system is no longer effective.

He argued that policing should be local, stressing that officers who understand community culture, language, and terrain will better serve residents. George noted that both the Arewa Consultative Forum and Southwest governors have recently expressed support for state police, wondering why the Federal Government is delaying implementation.

According to him, state police will improve trust, response time, and crime prevention, adding that Nigerians are now unsure who to believe as insecurity spreads.
