Amaechi Promises 50–50 Male-Female Cabinet If Elected President

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has announced that if elected President of Nigeria, he will appoint an equal number of male and female ministers. Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt, Amaechi said his cabinet would consist of 21 men and 21 women, explaining that the move is designed to prove that competence is not determined by gender.

He added that young people would have the largest share of appointments, stating that 10 or 11 ministerial positions in each gender category would be allocated to youths. According to him, the goal is to inspire competition, showcase performance, and demonstrate capacity across all groups.

Amaechi, who is planning to contest under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said his leadership approach would prioritise inclusion, merit, and equal opportunity.
