Renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has alleged that foreign powers are supporting terrorists operating across Nigeria. Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Gumi said recent patterns of attacks suggest a level of external coordination that contradicts earlier signs of improving security.
He noted that previously dangerous locations such as the Abuja–Kaduna highway had become considerably safer in recent months, and displaced farmers in Birnin Gwari had begun returning to their lands. However, the renewed surge in violent incidents, he argued, indicates influences beyond local criminal groups.
Gumi urged the Federal Government to intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen diplomatic efforts, and thoroughly investigate possible international connections fueling insecurity across the country.
