The Theatre Commander of Operation Fasin Yamma (OPFY), Major-General W. B. Idris, has directed troops of the 8 Division and Sector 2 to intensify their operations and ensure the complete elimination of bandits across the North-West region.
His directive was shared in a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba.
During his maiden operational assessment visit to Giginya Barracks, Sokoto, Idris said the mission had entered a decisive and more demanding phase. He urged troops to heighten their psychological readiness as the campaign escalates.
He assured them of enhanced combat resources and improved logistics to boost operational efficiency. Idris also praised Major-General Ibikunle Ajose, the GOC 8 Division, for his proactive leadership in tackling security threats within the sector.
